Colorado Avalanche v San Jose Sharks

Watching the Avalanche is getting to be one big frustration fest.  The Avs played a good game offensively, but were unable to build a lead on a shaky backup goaltender.  Meanwhile, a few very fortunate bounces went SJ’s way, and that was too much for this reeling team to overcome.
  • Andy was better in this one (I thought the Phoenix game the night before was one of his very worst all season) but his body language is jittery - a stark contrast to the unshakable calm we’ve seen all year.
  • Is there any defensive pairing that strikes fear into opponents hearts like Ruslan Salei and Brett Clark?
  • Sorry, did I say opponents hearts?  I meant my own.
  • Mueller is a gigantic key for the Avs offensively - not only on the PP but as a part of the Avs best line with Duchene and Hejduk.
  • The Avs haven’t played a solid game since March 11 - a shutout win over the Panthers.
  • The 3rd line (O’Reilly / McLeod / Porter) had a nice game.
  • Not so much for the Stastny / Galiardi / Stewart line, who was a combined -9.
  • Darcy Tucker played less than 4 mins.
  • Altitude gave a stat during the game that the Avs have only killed 13 of the last 23 PP opportunities.  That’s 57% or what I like to call “scary bad.”
  • Colorado finishes with 5 of 7 games at home.  Hopefully that will help.
Next game: at home against Anaheim, 7PM MDT
