Budaj’s first start since the turn of the century, if I’m not mistaken, and the Avs found themselves down 1-0 all of eight seconds in. St. Louis played an extremely desperate game and got some good bounces (goals 1 and 2), but also hit a bunch of posts and had a tough disallowed goal.  The Avs PP and the “2nd” line of Matty / Hejdie / Mueller came through offensively and the Avs trademarked “prevent D” was good enough tonight (barely).
  • Matty had a huge game.  His assist on Mueller's second goal - wow, just wow. What a special player.
  • Mueller continued his point streak with 2 goals and assist.  His PP goal in the 1st was so important - the Avs were completely dead - had nothing going until then.  He wore his “skinny 8s” jersey again.  That bothers me. (because I'm a nerd.)
  • I got really nervous halfway through the 3rd when I realized Budaj hadn’t given up a soft goal yet in the game.
  • Quincey was better - not fantastic, but miles away from his borderline “Skoula-like" performance last game in Dallas.
  • Cumiskey wasn’t nearly strong enough on his skates, his small size was exploited by St. Louis tonight.  That will continue in the playoffs.
  • If Liles got hurt on that garbage time play by Tkachuk, our hot PP will most certainly suffer.
  • Big props to the STL organ player - “Breaking the Law” by Priest?!  Nice!
  • Anything more fitting than Stewey finishing off the Blues?
Next game: at home against Calgary, 7:00 PM MST
