Wow - they weren’t kidding. After watching the Stars sleepwalk through a game at Pepsi Center a few nights ago, the Stars showed they are, in fact, a completely different team at home. When the Avs are on, they are noticeably faster than / outwork their opponents. The Avs have been only even (at best) in those two categories the last two games.
- I got really sick of the Modano love fest on Attitude, really fast. The guy is a shadow of himself and needed to retire a few years ago. Yes, he had two goals tonight, pushing his grand total this season to 12. The other 9 on the ice tonight (the one who is 19 years old) scored his 17th goal.
- The PK time Duchene got was a direct result of him being really on tonight.
- The 9s line was great - but really tough to win a game when you’ve only got 1 line that can score.
- The top line is still getting their chances - the problem is right now is no one but Stewey seems to be able to score (and even that's becoming questionable).
- Andy finally got burned on a misplayed puck around the net. It been coming for a while - I thought he was lucky to not get burned last night against Minnesota. To me, that play was really the difference in the game.
- After the first 20 games, I’d say O’Reilly was a rookie playing well enough to stay up in the NHL. The last couple games has been much more of a noticeable / effective player.
- The “Liles as a forward” experiment lasted only through the 2nd period - and for good reason.
- The Avs played 7 defensemen tonight and none of them played a particularly strong game. If they make a move at the deadline, it had better be for a dman with some kind of a shot.
Next game: Avs are at home against the New York Rangers on Sunday, 6PM MST
