If you were watching the Saints beat the Vikings in the NFC Championship game, you missed a quality win. The Avs got up on Dallas early and grinded them down. Colorado stays ahead of Vancouver in the NW with another win against a team that they should beat, especially at home.
- The game was won with Galiardi’s highlight reel shorthanded goal in the 1st. One heck of an effort!
- Stastny’s best game in a while. Really smart play in the neutral zone, turning pucks over - great passing on the rush from the center of the ice. (Notice how he’s always passing to Stewey? Smart guy.)
- You have wonder how the game would have swung if that puck doesn’t hit the linesman (leading to the 3rd goal) or if the ref doesn’t blow that play dead a little early that waived off an apparent Dallas goal.
- A rough game offensively for Dallas. The Stars couldn’t take advantage of any Avs mistakes - including two horrible turnovers by Koci in the first. (After the 2nd one, Koci didn’t take another shift.)
- Remember when Fabian Brunnstrom was supposed to be the next big thing? 8 pts this year. There was 10 min left in the 3rd the first time I heard his name.
- Duchene was a little remorseful for trying the trick shot in the 3rd. “I’m not trying to embarrass anyone.” Man, I love these kids. I tweeted about the attempted trick shot: "If Dutchy would have scored there, someone on the east coast might have actually paid attention..."
- Yet another assist for Liles on the PP...
- McLeod still isn’t doing enough.
- 5th shutout for Andy, who has stopped 88 of his last 89 shots.
