The hockey gods smiled on Colorado tonight. Phoenix deserved a much better fate tonight, at least 1 point - probably 2. The Yotes were in complete control of the game from the halfway point of the 1st through the entire 2nd. But the Avs held on and found a way to keep it 1-1 after 2 and then found a way to get the game’s only goal in 3rd.
- Only 3 shots on goal in the 2nd, and only 6 in the 3rd. And yet, the Avs won in regulation. Amazing.
- The game was just one big blur of turnovers in the neutral zone.
- What a game from Duchene. The game 41-61 season review will be coming this weekend, but I’ll get you a little preview: The team’s best center over these 21 games was not named Stastny.
- Brett Clark is still driving me crazy - but some credit where credit is due - he got his shot through and Duchene tipped it in for the game winner.
- Yip and Galiardi were both invisible - until the 3rd. They picked a great time to get their game going.
- Marek Svatos has to be the worst passer in the NHL.
- Mercier looked much more comfortable tonight and even made a couple of nice plays. Keep it up, Justin!
- Andy was great, again. You simply can’t steal points in the NHL without rock solid goaltending.
- I can understand why Hanzal would be frustrated tonight, but its no excuse to run a player in the corner. Really disappointing. Luckily, Sacco says Cumiskey is ok.
- Yotes PP failed them tonight.
- Over 14K in the Can tonight. Nice.
- Shut up, Jovo.
Next game: Saturday at LA Kings, 8:30PM MST. Look for 5 questions with Kings blogger ChrisKontos from The Royal Half before the game.
