Obviously, a huge, huge win for the Avs who took a big step toward a playoff spot with a 5-4 win against San Jose. The team fell behind by two goals, but didn’t panic and found a way to get a lead, (then blow a lead) and win in OT.
- More obvious stuff: The Avs don’t win this game without Mueller and his 2 goals - the 2nd one which gave the Avs their first lead since March 22nd.
- Mueller’s injury will hurt the Avs, on the Duchene line but even more importantly on the PP. At least the Avs have Yip back, who can legitimately play as a top 6 forward in the NHL, instead of going with Porter or Stoa.
- Sacco sat Tucker - anyone miss him? Yeah, me either, but he’s probably back in the lineup with Mueller’s injury.
- An awesome tip by Liles on the winner. He is far and away the team’s best defensemen… when he is in the opponent’s zone. (Otherwise, not so much.)
- Quincey had his best game in a long time. Hopefully he is through with his stretch of sucking. His goal was a bit of a break, but he took advantage of the opportunity and buried it.
- Andy had a huge save on Dany “I’m missing an ‘n’” Heatley to keep the score 2-1 in the first, but that was about it. Avs need more from him - he has looked merely average since mid March.
- Calgary’s remaining schedule: home against Sharks on Tuesday, home against Wild on Thursday, at Canucks on Saturday.
Next game: at Vancouver on Tuesday, 8PM MDT
