Put as much stock into this OT loss as you would a preseason game. The Avs were playing their “B” team - Anderson, Stastny, Galiardi, Hejduk, Foote and Hannan were all sitting - and the game meant absolutely nothing to either team. This game had all of the intensity of a preseason game and all of the hitting of an All-Star game. Which is fine by me - the Avs are just trying to stay healthy in order to get ready for the playoffs.
- Ok - put a little stock into Kyle “turnover city” Quincey’s horrible play in OT, which cost the Avs the game. Sacco might be forced to sit him in the playoffs after that display. It was pretty awful.
- O’Reilly / McLeod / Yip were fantastic during the last 10 mins of the game, the only point the game resembled an NHL regular season game. Sacco threw them out every other shift. O’Reilly and Yip ended up with more ice time than Duchene or any other forward.
- First game that all season where all three regular captains / alternate captains (Foote, Stastny and Hejduk) were out so Tucker and Yelle wore an “A”.
- Peter Budaj: The good news: your scramble game seems to have gotten better. The bad news: you gave up an really awful goal to Comrie in the 2nd.
- Marek Svatos: Did you enjoy your last NHL goal?
- David Koci: I hope that 5 mins of ice time didn’t wind you too bad.
Next game: home against Chicago on Friday, 7PM MDT
