Avs Find A Way Against Philly, 5-4

I’m convinced that the Avs are on a mission to convince the world that a 2 goal lead really is the worst lead in hockey - after blow two goal leads to lose in their last two games, they blew another 2-0 lead, and then nearly blew a 5-2 3rd period lead, but, thankfully found away to come out on top 5-4.
  • The Avs had a good first 10 mins of the 3rd.  They were doing a really nice job staying aggressive and working hard and then Philly scored and it started to fall apart.
  • Not a big fan of Daniel Briere right now.  How does a cross check to the throat right after a goal not get called?  If Hannan is going to miss some time, better hope Footer can go on Wednesday - I’m not sure I can stomach another Preissing “effort”.
  • Marek Svatos’ stick handling on a rush = Shaq’s dribbing on a fast break.
  • David Jones is tied with Hejduk for the team lead in goals with 10.
  • We’ve seen a lot of this in the box scores this season:
    • Duchene - 0G, 0A, 0P, -1
    • O’Reilly - 0G, 2A, 2P, +2
  • Really classy by the Avs and Laperriere to have Lappy take the ceremonial faceoff with Stastny.
  • As much as I'd like to see it, I thought it was both respectful and smart for McLeod to not go with Lappy.
  • Stewart was invisible in this game.
  • Red Wings lost to Nashville last night.  How does 10th place in the Conference feel, Detroit?

I was actually disappointed with Briere's effort. No blood was drawn. How can he look at himself in the mirror? smilies/cheesy.gif
