It’s with a sense of pride that I’m announcing that this blog is now representing the Colorado Avalanche on the Bloguin network.  Take notice that new URL for this blog the is the simplified anyonebutdetroit.com - please update bookmarks, links, etc.

Outside of the slicker graphics and URL and improved blog “add-ons” (video, polls, etc,) - rest assured, you can expect the same content that you’ve been used to.  In other words, there is no filter between what I write and what gets posted.  This is just a nicer wrapper and hopefully some more traffic.

About the Blog

For anyone new to this blog – welcome (yes, even you - Red Wings fan).  A little bit about me and the blog:

First, this is not an Anti-Wings blog exclusively – this is first and foremost a Colorado Avalanche blog that will celebrate in Wings failures at appropriate times.  This blog started on Blogspot at the Trade Deadline, March 2009.  My first post was a prediction was that Ian Laperriere and Peter Budaj were going to be moved for Pascal Leclaire – a prediction that was shot down with the day’s first deal when Leclaire went to Ottawa.

About Me

My name is Sean Payton, and I’m just a die hard fan – I live and die with every game and I try to be as brutally honest as I can about what I see from the Avs – both good and bad.  I’m married to a die hard Minnesota Wild fan, who actually knows her stuff (example - She celebrated when former Wild GM Doug Riseborough was fired this spring) and so I also follow the Wild pretty closely, by proxy.  My other big passion is music - I play in an indie / electronic band called Gritch.

About the Name ‘Anyone But Detroit’

And I don’t think I’ve ever gone over this before -- the name “Anyone But Detroit” comes from a phrase I coined during the 2007 playoffs, which was the first season Colorado missed the playoffs since they moved to Denver.  When people asked me who I hoped won the Cup, the answer was “Anyone but Detroit”.  So, I decided to this make custom shirt.

me in the famous anyone but detroit shirt

I think I'm going to have to give the Canucks a little bit of a pass this season as I got a complement on the shirt while I was in Vancouver this summer.

Let me know what you think of the new look!
