Number Watch: Jordan Leopold is wearing #40 in Calgary. ("What! They didn't retire it when Tangs left?!") He previously wore #6 then #4 in his previous stint with the Flames. (#4, #6 and #44 were already in use this season in Calgary.) The only member of the 2008 / 09 Avalanche who has a chance to win a Cup this season has two games under his belt with Calgary and already has a goal. You can watch it here.
Leo said this about going back to Calgary: "I spoke with Robyn (Regehr) after I found out. He's excited that I am coming back and I am excited to be back. When I got traded from Calgary I was pretty banged up. I've had a lot of injuries over the last couple of seasons. It's been frustrating not being able to play, and the mental side of it, too. I found a way to get healthy over the summer and I think emerged as my old self this season.
"I never liked playing against the Flames. They were my former team and they play with a lot of heart and a lot of grit. That's what Darryl demands."
Hmm, I wonder if he'll like playing against the Avs next year...
