After the 3 periods of hockey, plus the 5 min OT, the Colorado Avalanche out shot Minnesota 41 - 17, but still needed to use the shootout to beat the Wild. Both teams scored PP goals from defensemen - Bergeron for the Wild and Liles for the Avs. Wolski continued to be unstoppable in the shootout, scoring what may have been the prettiest goal yet. Hejduk also scored and Budaj stopped Nolan and Koivu to earn the win.

What impressed me:
Wojtek Wolski: 9 of 10 in shootouts this year. Watch the shootout goal if you haven’t seen it.

Marek Svatos: Playing on the first line with Stastny and Hejduk really seemed to energize him. He assisted on the first goal and he was dangerous all night.

Shot totals: The obvious game total (41 - 17), but how about this? Held the Wild to just 2 shots on goal during the 3 period.

Load, drunk Avs Fan (at the game): This guy politely asked my wife (who is a Wild fan) what the name of Minnesota's goalie was. She told him Backstrom and he immediately starting yelling “YOU SUCK BACKSTROM!”

What didn’t impress me:
Referees: I can’t remember a game where so many pucks hit the crew. I mean, 1 or 2 a game is forgivable, these guys got hit 5 or 6 times. Get out of the way!

Brett Clark: His lack of confidence with the puck is approaching Arnason levels.

3 Stars
1. MIN G 32 N.BACKSTROM
2. COL D 4 J.LILES
3. COL L 8 W.WOLSKI

Scratches:
Arnason
McLeod (shoulder)
Nycholat
Stewart

Notes:
Foote left the game with a head injury. That doesn’t sound good -- look for Nycholat to play his first game as a Colorado Avalanche in Edmonton on Hockey Night in Canada!

Next Game: Saturday in Edmonton, 8PM
