It was a statement game, and the Avs have seemed to be bring their A game for the best in the NHL (Flames, Hawks, Pens) all season long. They were quick, sharp and determined. They didn’t get frustrated when Kipper made some fantastic saves. They scored on their 5 on 3. Big win.
- Wolski and Stewart were both great again. Wolski leads the team in goals (13) and is now a single point behind Stastny for the team lead in points. Oh and Stewart just passed Hejduk for 3rd place on the team with 21 points.
- Best game for McLeod in quite sometime. He wasn’t an offensive force, but he made his presence felt early in the game with some good, hard hits and took Calgary’s best player (Iginla) off the ice with him with a fight late in the 1st.
- Bad shift by Footer led to the first Flames goal. First he turned the puck over to Bourque in the corner, then he fell down trying to check him behind the net.
- It was Ryan Stoa’s first NHL game, he wore #29. I liked the way he used his big body and it's obvious he has some skill, but I thought he looked slow out there.
Next up: at home against the Eastern Conference leading Washington Capitals on Tuesday. I really hope Theo starts in goal.
