The Avs got stole a point on Wed in Atlanta and they had a point stolen away from them in Pittsburgh.

  • The flow of the game reminded me a lot of the flow we’ve seen in the Chicago games - which is a good thing.
  • I’ve been very critical in the past, but Budaj played well tonight - he had no shot on either of the goals that were scored while he was in net.  (The Pens scored 2 empty net goals.)
  • Pittsburgh showed how a good team closes out games.  Most teams would sit back a little after the go ahead goal, Guerin scored with around 12 minutes left, but the Pens outshot the Avs 14 to 1 in the 3rd, with no drop off in aggressive play.
  • “Koci was scratched?  No way!  Who is going to eat up those 2 minutes?”
  • I liked the Stastny / Duchene / Stewart line.  Stastny had a few great chances he couldn’t bury.  You probably don’t want to keep Duchene on the wing for very long, but it’s a nice option to go to.
  • That line isn’t possible without Galiardi’s play or Hejduk’s return.
  • The Galiardi non - goal:  I don’t get the intent to blow the whistle rule.  I can understand if the puck wasn’t in the net when the whistle was blown, but how it is unfair to allow a goal if you review and find that the puck was in the net before the whistle was blown?  Players aren’t going to stop playing until they hear a whistle.  Making this change would make the rule much more black and white and stop embarrassments like last night’s goal and this one in Detroit from occurring.  These are goals, NHL. There is no reason to disallow them when all of the video evidence in the world says to allow them. Isn’t that what goal reviews are for anyway?
