Avs Blow Out, Sorry Hang On Against Wild, 4-3

Really nice to finally beat the Wild!  For those of you who don‘t know, my wife was raised in the twin cities and is a die hard Wild fan - so these games mean a little more to us than your typical regular season game.  We actually had tickets to this game, as we were spending time with family in Minnesota over the holidays.  Unfortunately, my wife was at the game, but sadly (especially given the result) I was not.  I do, however, get to visit the "X" on Wed when the Wild take on Jay’s Oil.

Surprisingly, not a whole lot of thoughts, but here's a few...
  • I thought O’Reilly had one of best games since October.
  • Nice to see Galiardi return to have a solid game after a rare ineffective game against Columbus.
  • I didn’t think Andy was particularly sharp  tonight - especially on the Clutterbuck goal.  But, give him credit - he was able to hang in there and keep the puck out of the net when it mattered most.
  • The Avs were lucky that two horrific defensive breakdowns that both led to Wild goals didn't end up costing them points.  That's partly because the Wild had their own horrific defensive breakdown that gave the Avs a 2 on 0 and as easy of a shorthanded goal as you'll probably ever see.
  • And speaking of that goal - great to see the Minnesota native Matt Hendricks end up with the game winner.
Next game: Home against Anaheim on Tuesday, 7:30.
